I joined the KCL MRC DTP in 2018 after graduating from King’s College London with a degree in Biomedical Sciences. During my undergraduate degree, I had spent a summer in a lab researching HIV-1 and completed a final year research project in epigenetics. Naturally, it made sense to combine my interests and my current PhD project focuses on applying genomic and epigenomic techniques to study the cellular response to HIV-1 infection. Recently, I completed a secondment with the NHS working on COVID-19 diagnostics and was lucky enough to publish some papers as well.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the DTP not only for the support, but also for the opportunity to interact with students outside my research area. A couple of us actually joined the social committee and was able to host a number of successful socials, which along with the symposiums have been a highlight of my experience on the DTP!
